PUNTA CAMPANELLA

"Punta Campanella" Protected Marine Area has been created during 1997: it lies between the Neaples Gulf and the Salerno Gulf, and has an ares of 1500 hectares, belonging to Massa Lubrense and Positano. Punta Campanella has awesome and spectacular diving sites, and represents a unique place for scuba divers and anyone who wants to perform recreational diving.

The Marine Protected Area is characterized by homogeneous landscapes and has natural characters of global significance, including historically and culturally wonderful sites. Geologically, the peninsula is characterized by being primarily made up of limestone, and because of this trait it has been subject to numerous karst phenomena, which produced a considerable number of emerged cavities, which over time have gone underwater as a result of tectonic movements and rising of the level of the sea: it is a true paradise for divers.
